This program was recorded during live presentations on June 14-15, 2012.
403(b) plans had it easy on Forms 5500 and 8955-SSA for so long, but not any longer. Now 403(b) plans which must file Form 5500 must file a full return, the same as a 401(k) plan. For a large plan, this will include the new Schedule C and Schedule H, as well as an audit. Of course, 403(b) plans can’t use Form 5500-EZ, and all 403(b) filing is under the new electronic system of EFAST2. ERISA 403(b) plans also now have to file a Form 8955-SSA.
The DOL has issued several pieces of guidance relating to 403(b) plans and their filing obligations under the new system. They have also expressed their interest in taking a close look at the Forms 5500 403(b) plans have filed. There’s so much that’s so new, and it’s all happening at once.
This two-part Web seminar will take a detailed look at Form 5500 for 403(b) plans, as well as the Form 8955-SSA. A concentrated focus on the 403(b) market will give you the information and insight you need to be able to handle the new system and answer your questions on these challenging requirements.
