Multiple Employer Plans: Aftermath of DOL Guidance
Presentor: Derrin Watson Recorded Date: 6/26/2012 Duration: 100 Min.

This is a recording of a live presentation on June 26, 2012.

Recent Department of Labor Guidance on “open MEPs” has answered some long-standing questions. Open MEPs are a series of separate plans under ERISA, not a single ERISA plan. However, other MEPs, such as those for professional employer organizations can still be treated as single ERISA plans.

Regardless of the type, multiple employer plans are complex and require careful thought and planning. In this Web seminar, Derrin Watson, author of "Who’s the Employer?", which extensively addresses PEOs and multiple employer plans, will discuss:

  • Common multiple employer plan situations
  • Design strategies
  • Qualification rules
    • Service
    • Compensation
    • Testing
    • Top-heavy
    • PEO-specific rules
  • Recent DOL Guidance
    • ERISA status
    • 5500 Filing
    • Audits
    • Bonds
    • Fiduciary responsibility
  • Correcting errors
